(Spark Plug)

ドライブシャフトには、エンジンで発生させた駆動力を車輪に伝える役割があります。シャフト部分は大きく3つの部位に分けられ、タイヤ側から「アウタージョイント」・「ドライブシャフト」・「インナージョイント」の順で構成されています。

ちなみにFR車や4WD車ではドライブシャフトに加えて、前後の方向に「プロペラシャフト」というパーツも取り付けられています。距離の離れたミッションからディファレンシャルギア(デフ)に駆動力を伝える機能があります。

The drive shaft (also called propeller shaft or prop shaft) is a component of the drive train in a vehicle, with the purpose of delivering torque from the transmission to the differential, which then transmits this torque to the wheels in order to move the vehicle.

The drive shaft is primarily used to transfer torque between components that are separated by a distance, since different components must be in different locations in the vehicle.

A front-engine rear-wheel drive car must have a long drive shaft connecting the rear axle to the transmission since these parts are on opposite sides of the car.

Drive shafts are used differently in different vehicles, varying greatly in cars with distinct configurations for front-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and the previously mentioned front-engine rear-wheel drive. Other vehicles also use drive shafts, like motorcycles, locomotives, and marine vessels. Below is the drive shaft configuration for a common front-engine rear-wheel drive vehicle (some cars have the transmission at the back).

Motor oil, engine oil, or engine lubricant is any one of various substances used for the lubrication of internal combustion engines. They typically consist of base oils enhanced with various additives, particularly antiwear additives, detergents, dispersants, and, for multi-grade oils, viscosity index improvers. The main function of motor oil is to reduce friction and wear on moving parts and to clean the engine from sludge (one of the functions of dispersants) and varnish (detergents). It also neutralizes acids that originate from fuel and from oxidation of the lubricant (detergents), improves the sealing of piston rings, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts.

In addition to the aforementioned basic constituents, almost all lubricating oils contain corrosion and oxidation inhibitors. Motor oil may be composed of only a lubricant base stock in the case of non-detergent oil, or a lubricant base stock plus additives to improve the oil's detergency, extreme pressure performance, and ability to inhibit corrosion of engine parts.

Motor oils are blended using base oils composed of petroleum-based hydrocarbons, polyalphaolefins, or their mixtures in various proportions, sometimes with up to 20% by weight of esters for better dissolution of additives.

スパークプラグの種類

スパークプラグの耐久性は先端に使用している電極の材質によって異なります。

  • ①一般プラグ:スパークさせるための電極にニッケル合金を使用、レジスタープラグといわれる

  • ②白金プラグ:スパークさせるための電極に白金合金を使用、耐久性に優れている

  • ③イリジウムプラグ:スパークさせるための電極にイリジウムを使用、耐久性に優れている他、白金よりも電極を細く製造することができ、スパーク性能も高い

A spark plug (sometimes, in British English, a sparking plug, and, colloquially, a plug) is a device for delivering electric current from an ignition system to the combustion chamber of a spark-ignition engine to ignite the compressed fuel/air mixture by an electric spark, while containing combustion pressure within the engine.

 

A spark plug has a metal threaded shell, electrically isolated from a central electrode by a ceramic insulator. The central electrode, which may contain a resistor, is connected by a heavily insulated wire to the output terminal of an ignition coil or magneto. The spark plug's metal shell is screwed into the engine's cylinder head and thus electrically grounded.

 

The central electrode protrudes through the porcelain insulator into the combustion chamber, forming one or more spark gaps between the inner end of the central electrode and usually one or more protuberances or structures attached to the inner end of the threaded shell and designated the side, earth, or ground electrode(s).
